A Luxury Acreage Community in the Heart of Magnolia, Texas

Tucked among the tall pines of Magnolia, Lake Windcrest is one of Montgomery County's most desirable acreage communities where privacy, natural beauty, and resort-style living come together.

Chapter One

Origins & Vision

Developed in the late 1980s as part of Houston's northwest expansion, Lake Windcrest was designed to offer something different: space to breathe. Instead of the crowded subdivisions that came to define much of the metro area, this master-planned community was envisioned as a retreat a place with wooded acreage lots, sparkling lakes, and custom-built homes surrounded by nature.

By 1997, the Lake Windcrest Property Owners Association (POA) was officially formed to maintain the lakes, roadways, and common areas, ensuring that the community's original vision of peaceful, upscale country living would be preserved for generations.

Development & Design

Lake Windcrest spans roughly 900 home sites, each sitting on generous one- to five-acre parcels. Every property is unique, thanks to custom construction that gives the neighborhood an elegant, varied character. Mature trees shade winding roads, and underground utilities keep the landscape uncluttered and scenic.

At the heart of the community lies a private, 169-acre lake where residents enjoy kayaking, fishing, and water skiing. The Lake Windcrest Golf Club, designed by architect Karl Litten and opened in 1999, offers an 18-hole championship course that meanders through the neighborhood, offering peaceful lake and forest views at every turn.

Amenities & Lifestyle

Beyond the golf course, Lake Windcrest is home to miles of walking and equestrian trails, neighborhood parks, and playgrounds making it ideal for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who loves a quiet, nature-rich lifestyle.

The POA oversees deed restrictions and maintenance to preserve property values and community standards.

This balance of convenience and serenity is part of what makes Lake Windcrest one of the area's most sought-after communities.

Growth & Outlook

While the community itself is mature and largely built out, Magnolia continues to experience strong growth. Nearby developments like Flex Windcrest III a new 30,000-square-foot flex-business park and new luxury custom homes on remaining lots signal continued investment and vitality in the area.

Land around Lake Windcrest remains popular for equestrian properties and acreage estates, ensuring that the community's blend of sophistication and country charm endures.
