The Four Lakes, and What Each One Is For

One of the first things people notice about Lake Windcrest is right there in the name. There's water, and plenty of it. Four lakes, actually. What surprises most folks, even ones who've lived here a while, is that each one has its own personality and its own best use. A lot of us settle into one lake out of habit and never really explore the others. So here's the quick rundown.

Windcrest Lake, the big one

This is the power boat lake, and it's the one people picture when they think of the neighborhood. If you want to ski, wakeboard, or pull the kids around on a tube on a Saturday, this is where you'll be. It's the loud, fun, summer-afternoon lake, and on a warm weekend it's where a good chunk of the neighborhood ends up.

The quieter lakes

The other three are a different kind of good. No wakes, no engines, just still water that's made for a kayak, a paddleboard, or a canoe. These are the early morning lakes, the ones where you go to hear nothing but a paddle dip and maybe a bird. If your idea of lake time is calm instead of horsepower, you've got options most neighborhoods can't touch.

You don't have to live on the water to use it

This is the part newcomers don't always realize. You don't need a waterfront lot to enjoy the lakes. Being in Lake Windcrest is what gets you access. Plenty of people who live streets away from any water are out on it more than the folks who own the view.

Different lakes for different seasons of life

What's nice is how the lakes flex with you. Young family with energy to burn, you're probably a Windcrest Lake household. Empty nesters who want a peaceful hour before the day starts, you're drawn to the quiet water. And a lot of us move between them depending on the mood and the year. That's the whole point of having four.
